Hope for Kids is a service group which works with the Maharagama Cancer Hospital.Essentially we work with children who have been diagnosed with cancer and through a fun arts and crafts sessions we hope to bring an element of fun into their lives while still doing so in a safe environmen
Each week the group prepares for a day of crafting, pre planned at the beginning of the quarter. So far we’ve done activities like paper cup crafts, paper plate Halloween masks and a much enjoyed session of origami. We also always have coloring pages on hand for kids who may not be interested in the craft of the day to make sure that everyone has something they can enjoy doing.Working with the kids has been so much fun and it’s lovely to see each of them displaying their artistic talents and creativity.I believe that having art session is a great way of allowing the kids to have fun and turn their mind away from their medical condition even if it’s just for an hour.Seeing a smile on their faces while holding up one of their creations is one of the best feelings. All in all I enjoy being part of this service and hope to continue working hard every Thursday to make a difference.
