Graduation ’19

I have been playing in the concert band for almost a year now and I enjoy it a lot. We meet up on Monday afternoons and play a lot of fun music from different genres and I get to learn different types of playing techniques in these genres of music.

The concert band plays for the high school graduation and this year graduation is scheduled for the 1st of June. So right after Spring Gala we started working n the graduation music. The concert band will start the graduation ceremony by playing Pomp and Circumstance and end the ceremony with with a movement from the Royal Fireworks by Hayden. Both these pieces are classical pieces and they require a lot of technique. I can play Pomp and Circumstance without any trouble but the Royal Fireworks is a challenging piece. I told my band teacher Mrs. Duncan that I can’t play one section and she said that I don’t have to play it if I can’t but to give it a try at home. I took her advice and practiced a bit at home but I definitely need more practice. I have time till graduation to practice so I need to practice more before the graduation ceremony.

-Update

The concert band performance at the high school graduation ceremony was a success. As mentioned before, I couldn’t play one section from the “Royal Fireworks” but I made sure to practice and get it right in time for graduation and it only took me determination and perseverance to do it. It was a challenge at first but I did it !
