Winter Gala is a dazzling evening where ensembles, bands, choirs and solo performers exhibit their musical talents and it is a wonderful opportunity to come on stage and show everyone what you can do!
The Concert Band has been practicing the theme song from the Chronicles of Narnia to perform at the Winter Gala concert in December from the beginning of Semester 1. The playing was a bit rocky at first, but it got better with practice.
This year the Winter Gala concert was held on the 6th of December.I was feeling very nervous on the day of the concert as I have never performed on stage before and this was my first time performing at the Winter Gala and I didn’t know what to expect. The concert Band performed first, and I must say that it was an astonishing performance with live music and the movie playing at the back. Everyone did a marvelous job!
Performing at the Winter Gala definitely gave me confidence to perform at upcoming school events and it has taught me more than just reading sheet music. It was hard to manage my time with school work but it was definitely worth it in the end because I would never get another opportunity like this to learn more about performing with other instrumentalists. The Concert Band will begin to rehearse again in January for the upcoming Spring Gala and for the DP2 graduation ceremony.
