Smoothie-making!

At a loss with what to do with myself in yet another government-mandated lockdown, I decided to occupy my time by making healthy smoothies! This fun activity allowed me to sate my sweet tooth without consuming any artificial sugar, in keeping with my goal to lead a more healthy lifestyle overall. I started by inventorying what ingredients were available to me at home and looking online for recipes that included them. I chose to make three smoothies and subjected my family members to taste-testing them. The recipes I picked out were as follows:

  • 2 handfuls of Spinach
  • 3/4 cup of Oat milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/4 cup of Greek plain yogurt
  • 1-3 teaspoons of honey
  • Optional: a small number of crushed walnuts

  • 1 cup of strawberries
  • 1/2 of mixed berries (raspberries and blueberries)
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 cup of Greek plain yogurt
  • 3/4 cup of Oat milk
  • 1 spoonful of chia seeds

  • 2 cups of frozen mango
  • Chunks of pineapple (to your liking, recommendation: 1 cup)
  • 1/4 cup of Greek plain yogurt
  • 3/4 cup of Oat milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 spoonful of sunflower seeds

All in all, I was happy with how the smoothies turned out though I would like to further experiment by using different plant-based kinds of milk to create different consistencies.
