Filming Antigone Production
During the last week of November to the 2nd of the December I had the job to film the Antigone production which would be held on the 2nd of December. I had to film for my service group, Gecko Net and our job was to create a video showing the journey of producing antigone. The biggest project for antigone was to film a trailer. This trailer would be put on facebook, Instagram and more so we could broadcast what the production is about to a wider audience. This would also be a way to promote the show which would increase viewership of the production. I would stay after school to film the rehearsals and my main job was to take pictures and videos with the DSLR camera. The photos and videos would be used later for the yearbook, trailer and maybe on the OSC school website.
During these weeks I leanrt to be self aware. In this case I was self aware about my strengths and weaknesses. I felt like I was set for with my skills I had for this year’s gecko net but I found that I lacked self awareness when I faced the dark auditorium. I needed to improve my photo taking skills in the dark. There are some settings I can tweak so the photo quality in the dark will improve. But I need to learn how to use these settings.
Me and Thisath (filming partner) worked collaboratively to make sure we met the expectations for Gecko Net. We planned together on what shots to take, how to video certain scenarios and helped each other in terms of getting quality content. Working collaboratively helped us share our thoughts on pictures we took and what we needed to improve. For example Thisath told me that my pictures seemed like it was not involved in the Antigone set and I needed to get closer to the actors, try different angles and also get on stage while they were rehearsing.
Before filming antigone I had a set perspective on gecko net’s mission. I always thought gecko net had one mission and it was to capture and share the accomplishments of other services to the community. But this all change after filming antigone. I always felt that gecko net as a service was limited to the communities that it could help. This is where I changed perspectives and believed that Gecko net could be more than just helping services but to additionally help the whole OSC community. Being apart of
