Morning coffee jogs

Since lockdown was started, I have been having trouble getting the motivation do to daily activities. To solve this problem, I have been taking jogs early in the morning every weekend.

I would say I am very lucky since I live in the city part of Colombo because jogging by the beach is not only easy but also incredibly soothing and destressing. In addition, it’s been raining a lot lately. Every afternoon, Colombo is surrounded with puddles and watery roads so the only time I can properly jog is the morning.

During my jog, I do get tired and drowsy too at times. In order to fix this, I go to a java branch about 5 minutes away from my house. My go-to order is always a caramel frappuccino with extra caramel drizzle. I think I crave coffee every single day so these morning jogs definitely give me an excuse to buy it twice every week. This may not aid me in my future when I get diabetes because of the amount of caffeine I drink but yolo.

After getting a frappucino, I always order a chocolate crossaint so I don’t pass out in the middle of mu jog. I think this food routine isn’t the healthiest but after my jog, I definitely feel like I achieved something. Also, these jogs aren’t just exercise for me because they help me clear my mind especially from all the stress of being a senior and other tension. November is known to be the month with a lot of assessments so I think these morning jogs really help me clear my mind and better my mental health.

Staying active has been a hassle but with an everyday routine, I think it is possible to be healthy and also help improve an individuals mental health. Lastly, my navigation skills have definitely improved because I don’t go out much in Sri Lanka – at least not by walk or jog. I hope I continue and keep up with my jog because it’s healthy and productive.
