Setting up Karaoke night for RtR (Room to Read)

Room to Read (my service) was setting up a fundraiser event in the form of a karaoke night after school on Friday, 25th of November. As a member of the Room to Read service group, I was required to stay after school to set it up.

The event was to take place in the library, where the projector screen was located. Before the day of the event, when we were still organizing and gathering resources, me and a few others were the ones to ask the IT department for a spare projector to use for displaying the lyrics so seeing the projector being used on the day made me feel like I accomplished something.

On the day, I went to the library and everyone was blowing up balloons. The service leader handed me some unblown balloons and told me to inflate them. Even though it had been a while since I inflated balloons, I did mine just fine. The problem was, I didn’t know how to tie them to stop the air from flowing out. Thankfully, there was one service member who was tying everybody’s balloons so I just gave her my balloon and the problem was solved.

All the balloons were light pink and purple

We took a group photo in front of the screen with all the members of RtR, but I don’t know where I can find the photo so I can’t put it on my CAS blog unfortunately.

After inflating the balloons, my job was basically done and the event started.

The event would go until 6 (I think) and the busses were leaving at 4:30, so I had to leave early. But before I left, I stole a cookie from the Karaoke night snack table.
