Workout Whenever #3: Trying Hilton’s Gym

For the October break, I stayed at the Hilton for a little getaway. Which then I decided that one way I can achieve my CAS goals during the break is by trying out their gym to fulfill my activity. This is my first time going to the gym, so I was really nervous and thought that this would be a daunting experience, but it wasn’t bad at all. I decided to go on Monday (9/10/23) and Wednesday (11/10/23) so I can go at least 1-2 times while I am at the hotel. Some of the machines I tried were:

Treadmill

I have tried the home treadmill a few times before, so I have had experience with it before. So this lead to my decision to walk on the treadmill for 30 minute. I decided to make the speed and incline the same number and change after some time (eg: both at 5 and then change to both at 6) because it would make me see if I need to work harder or easier at times. This ended with a 5 minute cool-down, which created a total of 35 minutes with this exercise.

This was good for me as I managed to stay on track and comfortably walk with the speed and incline. I’m really experienced with this machine, so I feel like I can push myself to go on a faster speed or bigger incline.

Exercise Bicycle

Since I never tried the exercise bicycle out before and haven’t cycled in a while, I decided to start small and try for 20 minutes (the minimum), I wanted to do 30 minutes, but I thought to start small since it might be too hard for too long. This also ended with a 5 minute cool-down, which created a total of 25 minutes with this exercise.

This was good for me as I did something I never tried before and now I can figure out how to improve after a few more gym sessions. It was hard at times, but I was still proud that I managed to pull it off at times.

Lat pulldown machines

I decided to end my gym session with the pulldowns to experiment the machines without the timers. Since there were 2 options to pull down and pull back, I first chose to do 10 reps of pulling down and then also do 10 reps of pulling back, making me do 20 reps in total (all in 10 LBS) too.

Like the exercise bicycle, this was good for me as I did something I never tried before and now I can figure out how to improve after a few more gym sessions. I’ve started to like this machine and I know I’ll use this more often when I go to the gym.
