The path of making most of (and enjoying) life

Gecko Network Semester 1 Reflecttion

Gecko network this semester has been eventful and a new experience for me. This service would rely on my creativity and film making skills in order to create effective and satisfactory result. I do not have a history of photography skills and sought out to develop such skills this semester in Gecko network.

This lead me to learn a lot from the leader, Anuda, as to how a Canon camera functions and how to ensure that the footage collected is of good quality and captures the meaning of the scene. I have learnt to use a new software called Final cut pro which, is an augmented version of Imovie and made for professional film making. I have also learnt how to work with younger members of the service group as the service is majorly consisted of students below the ninth grade. This semester I have also aided the school community by making videos such as the SAISA volleyball boys pep rally video, UN day videos, Home run video and the writing and formulating of the OSC 2018-2019 semester 1 Gecko News script. For the second semester I plan to improve my camera skills even further and take up even more projects, capturing footage for events, colour correcting footage and becoming a key member in the “Learning by Serving” series.

For the second semester, our service group will become even more involved with other groups. The next semester will begin the “learning through Serving” initiative where, we will create a mini-series of documentaries covering a wide range of service groups. I have already commenced with the shooting of the Checkmates service documentary which, will be released later this month.
