Maelle’s CAS Journey

My extra-curricular activities at OSC

A new objective: to gain more technical skills

FINALLY I FOUND IT!! It’s been some time since I was trying to find a volleyball club outside of school. I wanted to find a club for two reasons. The first one is because it is my favorite sport and even playing everyday at school during break and lunch is not enough. The second reason is because of SAISA. Even if we train very hard, just working a few months does not equal training less per week but for a year. I have been there twice, and from what I experienced the training is very serious and complet as well as enjoyable. I found this volleyball club thanks to Zoe, my teammate, who gave me the contact information. So every week, me and Clara (my volleyball partner) practice together for 2 hours with a coach  to gain more skills and get better. Learning at OSC or in this club is quite different but are complementary: at OSC we learn more about teamwork and work on a particular aspect of volleyball (sometimes hitting, receiving, passing or serving). While in the club we work on every aspect of volleyball: during one session we work on hitting, receiving, passing, serving, and precision. This training will allow me to improve my personal skills a lot and at OSC, to improve my teamwork.

For me it is such a great opportunity to improve my skills! As it is only Clara and I it’s almost like having particular and personal lessons which allow us to improve a lot better than when we are training with a whole group as the coach can comment on every single movement we are doing. I will take this opportunity to improve my skills in hitting, receiving and serving as well as to seriously learn how to make a perfect set.
