Duke of Edinburgh Program

The Duke of Edinburgh Program is a task much similar to CAS with the idea of awarding and endorsing a diverse behavior. The program can go from 1 to 4 years depending on what level you chose to reach, this being the bronze, silver, and gold awards. As you progress past one the task becomes much more longer to take as the program requires more hours. But what makes The Duke of Edinburgh Program so different from CAS is its final task which requires the student to go out with a supervisor for a set number of days camping. For most of the people who participate in CAS, this is the most exciting part of the program. It allows us (the students) to be able to work together and make new friends.

I was one of the first to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Program in my school as my dad was the one who endorsed setting it up. I was used as a way to allow him access to see through the eyes of the students and help fix any problems which were difficult to solve. During my time when I participated in the program, like CAS I set up three separate goals each designed to focus on various different aspects of my life.

One for  Physical, Creative, and Service.  for the physical side I focused on my goal to play in SAISA for the badminton team, for creative I focused on my music and to learn 20 new songs by the end of the year. And finally, with service, I focused on my ability to participate in Gecko Net and said to have provided at least 20 pictures that would be used. For each award, it took me about a year to participate in them with two trips in between those years which were called the XXX in order to show the supervisors we had reached certain recruitment in order to achieve the bronze and silver award.
