For UN Day (7th October), me, along with the rest of the AB French class planned an educational presentation for the pre-school class. In order to do this we decided to researched the history of the Congo and its connection to French culture. Obviously the kids we presented to were quite young so we made sure the information was simple and clear to understand.  We presented slides that had images and information regarding the drums that are played by the Congolese people. To finish our presentation of, we presented a performance we had created using drums borrowed from the arts department; we played different beets inspired by what you would find in The Congo. The idea was for the audience to eventually be able to play along with us, however looking back it was probably a bit too advanced for pre schoolers to replicate. However, the kids still seemed to love playing around with the drums and learning briefly about the history of the Democratic of Congo and french culture on UN Day. This activity was not only fun, and educational for me, but also helped improve my collaborative skills with my peers and the kids we had devoted our time to. It was also quite enjoyable improving my drum skills and creating beets with my french class. I hope an opportunity like this comes again.
