2022 HomeRun

Home Run Poster

On the 23rd of April our Service; Care for Paws teamed up with Housing and Habitat to host and run a charity event where people could run/walk with their dogs on a five km track. My role was to be the third water stop on the track. We filled cups for people, made sure the dogs were properly hydrated and gave directions to the participants.

Helping out with the home run helped me work on many skills such as resilience, patience and communication. Communication was necessary in directing the runners which way to go. This is important for their safety so they dint get lost, meaning we had to be clear.  Resilience and patience where also necessary because we had to sit in the hot sun for quite a while during and before the runners passed us. The job may not have been fun, but it was definitely necessary and i’m glad i helped out, in order to raise money for these services.

All in all, the home run was really successful, with around 50 participants and loads of donations towards the service groups. The total money gained has yet to be counted.
