This is my first post of the CAS journey which I am going to embark on, in the Diploma Programme. I am excited to begin, but an important preliminary step is setting up CAS goals. Given below is a brief outline of those goals that I intend to complete before the end of my Diploma Programme.
Creativity Goals:
I currently have two creativity goals that I hope to accomplish. One of them is participating in the COMUN Tech Team as a deputy head of Tech and trying to achieve the honourable mention award (quite a long shot). This would boost my creativity skills since I would need to partake in activities such as effective planning, video editing, information management and photoshopping. This goal pertains to the 2020-2021 year, but I am currently unsure if I will participate in COMUN in the 2021-2022 year. Another one of my Creativity Goals is to participate in and pass the Trinity Keyboard Exam (Level 4). I wish that this is an enjoyable process, with minimal stress and I hope to show substantial improvement compared to my current self. Playing an instrument such as a keyboard can be quite a relaxing experience and could potentially occupy my mind for sometime, reducing the stress from the school work that awaits me in the DP. The extent to which I succeed in this goal will be seen in whether I receive a certificate and the critical evaluation that will provided by my tutor.
Activity Goals:
My activity goal is to workout at least once a week for physical and mental wellness. This will be done with supervision of a trainer, whom I plan to meet once a week every Friday. I plan to keep this commitment until the end of the DP. My other activity goal would be to make the SAISA Football team, but due to the current prevailing situations, the chances of that are almost null. Yet, I will try to be physically active throughout this lockdown through this workout regiment as well as my own personal workouts.
Service Goals:
My service goals for this year would be to become an active leader in the Checkmates service and try to plan something for the service during the course of the year. This service is one that I have been part of since the 8th grade and I plan to continue this service till the end of DP. However, due to the current COVID issues, it may not be possible for me to pursue this service. As an alternative, I plan to apply for the Gecko Net service and try to be an active member in that organisation.
