Homerun is a tradition that OSC has held for the past couple of years. It’s something that I’m unfamiliar with because it hasn’t been done at any of my previous schools. Homerun is essentially a 5km (approx) distance that can be walked or run. The point is to bring everyone together, (kids, parents, teachers, everyone), and raise money for a service group by paying for a ticket and then running or walking the distance indicated. I personally think that it’s not only a great way to raise money and awareness for a cause that matters, but it’s also a great way to get fit and spend time with people of all ages, grades, and countries.
The run initiated at around 7:45 am this past Wednesday (holiday), and it ran until about 9am. Overall, I found that it was very fun to run with my friends, my team and my acquaintances.
Additionally, throughout the course of the 5km distance, there were stands with people that were part of the service that had water available for those who were participating. I think that it was very well coordinated and set up and it made for a great Wednesday morning full of energy, water and raising money for a good cause!
