One of my first CAS goals was to get involved with an after-school activity that was mainly focused on creativity. Specifically, I hoped to join the yearbook club and in January I did. Being able to help create this year’s yearbook was a very new experience in which I learned several new skills. the first was working with InDesign. I had previously worked with photoshop and other similar platforms but I had never used InDesign before, so learning how to use it took some time. I learned how to import photos and change the sizes and shapes of the pages. Eventually, I learned how to format pages and create official yearbook pages.
The theme of this year’s yearbook was “virtually together”, mostly inspired by the 7 months that we were on Zoom for. Because I joined later on in the year, I was only assigned five yearbook pages: life in a pandemic, ISTA TaPS, and the Grade 2 pages. I really enjoyed being able to put together my own pages and feel like I was contributing to something that people would be able to enjoy.
Learning Outcomes from being part of the yearbook:
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
