Covid 19 is ever-present in our lives and never fails to remind us of that. From masks, quarantine, PCR tests, and curfew to online school and not being able to regularly see our friends. With all of this additional stress, the school gave us two Fridays off, calling them IB-well days. These were days where we were given the chance to catch up on homework, get off of our computers, and focus on CAS-related activities.
On the first Friday we had off, I managed to hit all of the CAS categories.
Even though it isn’t commonly considered a service, I helped my mom with some errands like going to the grocery store and to get our mail, and helping her unpack everything. I also planted two avocado seeds. For creativity, I made three new scrapbook pages and did a puzzle with my brother. The puzzle was 1,000 pieces and it was all black and white so it took us a long time! Finally, for the activity aspect of CAS, I did a Lili Sabrei Abs workout and played soccer and frisbee with my family.
The most recent and, sadly, the last IB-Well Friday was last week (November 27). Max came over and we were able to catch up and check in with each other, which was really nice. After talking and eating some thanksgiving leftovers, we decided to go for a walk. It was really hot outside, so we got hats, masks, and water and left on our walk to the ocean. Now, navigation is not my specialty, so I was very relieved after about 20 minutes when we found the railroad tracks and the water. We tried looking for a beach, but were unsuccessful, so we sat down on some rocks and then decided it was too hot and that we should go back home. The way back home was more of a photoshoot because anything we saw that we thought had an aesthetic or just looked cool we took pictures of. We took about 40 pictures between the two of us. We didn’t really hit on any service aspects except for walking my dog, but it was still a day filled with activity and creativity.
