My service has been planning for our Karaoke Night since our first session of the school year. There were many obstacles faced due to clashes and other events such as SAISA which resulted in the postponement of the event for three weeks later (November 25th, 2022) 

The aim of this event was to raise funds for our partner school so that they can continue to build and upgrade the library building we aided in establishing. 

We faced a few logistical issues in the promotion of our event, our tickets were priced at LKR 3000 however, we found that not a lot of people were purchasing them when they retailed for this rate so we reduced it to LKR 2000. We managed to raise a total of LKR 60,000 which is approximately $160. 

This was the first time we were hosting a community-building event, we felt we needed some variety in our fundraiser lineup as we typically host book sales and literary afternoons. We had a good group of people come up and had lots of fun singing songs. The library was nicely set up for our event, with balloons, and designated stations. 

All our service members made sure to bring food and drinks for everyone to eat. The event ran for two hours, after the athletic activities were over we had more people come. 

We were glad to have both teachers and students be a part of our event and hope to host more like this in the future, possibly making it an annual event.
