A Disappointing Final SAISA Basketball

This year’s SAISA basketball was a disappointing one. Despite this, I had an incredible time with my teammates and friends on and off the court and had experiences to remember for years to come and look back on. This year SAISA basketball was hosted at ACS, the American Community School in Amman, Jordan. It was a 3-day tournament and it took place from the 8-11 of February. Our team was young but had experience as most of the team was the same as last year. We are a tight-knit group of boys that worked hard throughout the season to place well going into this SAISA Basketball. Last season we came 3rd place, a historic placement for OSC Boys Basketball as no other team has placed that highly before in the history of our school, and we had hoped we placed as equally as high if not better this year. However, this was not the case, in the end, our team came 6th place. As one of the captains on the team, although we struggled and didn’t play our best I can firmly say our spirit and togetherness did not decline once throughout the tournament no matter what obstacles we came across. We won 2 games and lost 3 to get to our final position, but after each loss, we came back harder, and we took it as a learning experience.

Due to this, we continued to play hard, show character, maintain our school and team integrity, and continue to have an image to be proud of throughout the tournament. Our losses molded our team into what it has become and from this, I have no doubt that spirit and morale will continue to be high going into the next basketball season. Although there were many positive takeaways from this tournament, it is still disappointing to come 6th place, and as a competitor, I know we as a team are far more deserving of a higher placement, it was just unfortunate the way our tournament played out, and some poor decisions were made which impacted this.
