2023-2024 Goals

As my final year of high school begins, I am flooded with a different array of emotions; stress, nostalgia, excitement, and regrets. I can’t help feeling all of these different emotions, but I am just taking every day as it comes, as it is my last year. Going into this year, there are several goals that I am going to be focusing on and continuing to work towards from last year. I want to work towards these in order for a sense of completion and satisfaction by the time the end of the year is here.

Activity:

My goal from last year was to be the best version of myself physically. I also wanted to go to the gym 2-3 times a week, and within the gym, I had goals I wanted to attain; a 150kg deadlift, 70kg squat, and a 100kg bench press. Looking back on these goals, it seems although I have made good progress towards my goals, I smashed my squat PR (personal record) by 30kg, and I am now able to do a 100kg squat. However, I still have not attained my other two goals. Currently, my PR for deadlift is 145kg, and I believe in the near future I will be able to complete it. I have also made some decent progress on my bench press PR, as I am now able to bench 90kg, however, I still have a lot more work to do if I want to be able to bench 100kg. I think it is safe to say that I have developed a good routine of going to the gym, as I now attend the gym 1-5 times per week.

New Goals:

Squat – 125kg, Deadlift – 175kg, Bench – 105kg

I also would like to continue to participate in SAISA for at least 2 seasons this year to keep active inside of school as well.

Creativity:

Last year my goal was to learn how to play the piano, and my goal started off well. I attended lessons for around 4 months and made good progress, however, I found it hard to manage my time whilst playing Piano and other sports and I also found it hard to manage my energy levels. Personally, I did not think it was super good for me if I was no longer enjoying playing. However, after my lessons in my free time, I was able to learn 2 new songs and a couple of different warm-ups.

New Goals:

I would like to indulge in a more technical side of my creativity and attempt some photography, specifically in natural settings.

Service:

Last my goal in service was to be a leader, confident, and hold a fundraiser. I can confidently say that I have been all of these throughout the course of last year’s service. With the addition of a few new members and finally being able to bring the children into school, we had a pretty successful year as a service considering we are still currently re-building. We were able to hold a fundraiser, which can be seen in previous posts in my CAS blog, where we sold ice cream for children in the school. We we able to raise 30,000 rupees for the children in our service to help them have access to more swimming necessities like goggles and swimsuits.

New Goals:

This year I would like to continue to be a leader in my service. Since it is my last year in the service, I don’t want it to end or progress backward once I leave, so I want to leave the service in a good condition so it doesn’t fail once we leave. I also would like to raise more money for the children before I leave by holding one more fundraiser.
