Over the course of the next two years I will be tracking my progression in terms of the CAS components. These include: creativity, activity and service. This will allow me to balance my school life more effectively. Whilst challenging me to step outside of my comfort zone.
CREATIVITY
This year I will be stepping far beyond my comfort zone, by partaking in the annual senior production. I have always dreamt of being involved, however, my doubts always got to the best of me. I will be taking a big step by auditioning for an actual role, as I am used to sitting in the audience and enjoying it. This new experience will allow me to develop skills, in regards to my self confidence and the possibly trying new things. In regards to stepping outside of the classroom, I started a blog last year. This blog is based around my opinion on pressing issues and other articles, I will publish posts when I deeply invested in a topic. I am very self conscious about my writing, as I never truly believed in myself. The creation of this blog will allow me to expand my skills and apply knowledge/ experiences. Through this platform I am able to express myself in other measures, empowering me.
ACTIVITY
An important part of my life besides school is sports. I have been in sports teams since I was in elementary school. But I have been apart of the competitive sports teams, including: girls basketball and girls soccer, since I joined this school three years ago. They have allowed me to develop as a holistic person and learn a variety of skills, that are vital when it comes to the real world. Personally, I want to focus on developing my mental strength more importantly than my physical strength. I want to excel to my fullest potential specifically during girls basketball. To reach this goal, I will be practicing prior to the basketball season to shape me into a stronger athlete. I also do ballet, yoga, running, etc. in my free time as hobbies, these will allow me to focus on calming my mentality and building my physical strength simultaneously. I want to take away the experiences and lessons learned throughout this process, as it will be applicable post high school, which is important in my opinion.
SERVICE
Care for Paws the service group that I have been apart since I joined school three years ago, whilst having been service leader the past two years. I have had a lot of experience in terms of leadership as I was able grow my service and have had many success with it. I want to challenge my leadership skills in terms of efficiency. Last year we planned for one big project last year, but I want to branch out further this year. As a leader over the course of the next two years, I want to raise more awareness in terms of animal rights within Sri Lanka. Animal rights has been a frequent global issue as of recent, which made me realize the importance of bringing attention to this topic. If a change is made within our school community that can potentially go a long way. One other major project I have been working on is the implementation of a bio gas plant at school. This is an extension of my personal project, as I want to set an example to other schools and organization that it is possible to make a change. Rather than solving the problem itself in regards to the garbage issue. I have been working on this project since last school year and plan to have it fully functioning this year. I have learned so much throughout the process of this project and there is still so much more to learn in regards to it. I aim to execute even greater projects than, this post high school, as I feel it is my duty as a global citizen. I aspire to make even the smallest bit of change in this world.
Overall, I want to learn new skills, learn new experiences and think beyond the classroom. These will help with my personal development, which will be applicable and important traits to possess especially post high school. I am excited to embark on this new and exhilarating journey over the course of the next two years, which will allow me to uncover other parts, that help build me as a person!
