Badminton training
Improving my skills
One of my CAS goals for the Activity area was to participate in SAISA Badminton, and the other being to improve my skills for badminton and get it up to a decent level. So in order to do that I needed to train in another club. So I joined a group that was situated in the Zimanthra gym.
I do my classes normally on Saturday in 7 in the morning During these first few months we did exercises, that were mostly for the legs, and for us to be more agile, since in badminton you need to agile, because your opponent will always hit the shuttle to an area where you aren’t. Then we did some stretches. After those we do some practice shots, and our coach would tell how to improve our stance and our racket movement and grip. After that we do shadow practices, in shadow practices we pretend that we are playing against another player. We then play a proper match against each other.
After the matches, we then do warm downs to release the muscles tension, and to make sure that we won’t have any muscle pains in the morning. This was my routine in Badminton for the first few months.
Reflection
Like I said before my goals are to improve on my badminton skills, and to also join SAISA badminton. So by going through this training I hope to improve my skills to level where I can eligible to participate in tournaments that my club participates in. I also hope to be able to join the SAISA team.
