Hope For Kids – A Second Run

As last year was my first year with the Hope For Kids service team, I finally decided that this was the perfect service for me as I am a huge advocate for charitable causes. We have had a successful year with all of our donation drives, our annual cricket match, sponsoring both Galas, and doing interactive sessions with patients of the Maharagama Cancer Hospital, for the first time since COVID struck. Now with my second year in the service as service leader, along with Pep, and discussing with our service coordinator Ms. Tanuja, we took the time to overview a plan that we could utilize for this upcoming service year.

Perhaps the main goal we hope to achieve this year is to have more interactive sessions with the patients. We were able to travel to the hospital last year, but we’ve only had one session, where we gave the patients coloring books and helped them color. Our aim is to find more ways to interact with the kids. One thing that the kids really liked was the idea of singing songs together, so this could be where I fit my role. Of course, those two aren’t the only things on our agenda, but we do need to research and find more ways to interact with them.

A new service recruitment video was made detailing all of the efforts we pulled off in the last year. I was in charge of editing it and the results of the video got some pretty positive remarks! Of course, the video will be below:

I am looking more forward than ever as we have a lot more members in the team, I feel like we can get a lot done with this.
