Working on the Piano and Firing up my Creativity

Having not played the piano in so long, since I moved to Sri Lanka, I decided to play a few songs to get me back into rhythm and exercise my fingers.

7 years by Lukas Graham:

Furthermore, working towards my goal to rekindle my music-producing skills, I decided to experiment and create an interesting, simple chord progression to add to a beat I will create.

Consequently, I ended up with E major, D major and C major.

Moreover, to add some punch into the music, I further experimented with the chords to make 3 different layers:

Layer 1 :

Layer 2:

Layer 3:

After creating the beat on logic pro x, I added a simple piano with the different chord layers to the song. It’s a bit annoying because I have to do it on my laptop keyboard since I don’t have a midi keyboard, but I pull it off anyway.

And thus, the end result!

Reflection:

I think that it is a pretty good start to the song and it can be developed further. To add more flair to the song, I need to learn how to use “Channel EQ” and implement it into the song, which is my next task. In the end, I think I can upload the songs I made with the DAW files onto a platform so that other people can come across it and may be able to use it if they want.

Learning Objectives:

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
