While embarking on my final year at OSC and in the IB Diploma Program, I decided to continue to lead the Gecko Inc. service group. As a swimmer for the past 10+ years, I hope I can use my extensive experience in the water to be able to take initiative and lead my fellow service group members to be successfully able to teach the group of underprivileged school kids/teens around Colombo who have signed up for our course how to swim and to build their overall confidence/safety in the water.

I spent September and October planning the sessions and their structure as well as practicing our teaching methods so that we would be fully prepared for the arrival of the kids after arriving in November. After they started coming again, I made a special effort to interact more with them, learn their names, and practice techniques.
