Maldives trip

Day 1

Today was a very, very early start. We had to meet at school at 3 am so I had to wake up even earlier. Our flight only left at 7:45 but we wanted to make sure we would make it well before that time. After arriving in the Maldives, as we exited the airport, we were met with a cool coral breeze, white sand, and light blue water right off the bat. It was incredible. After we had calmed down a bit, we got on a boat to get to Baa Atoll, the island our hotel was on. The ride to the island was quite exhilarating at first but got a bit repetitive after our two hours of traveling. After arriving and settling into our hotel a bit, we ate a fabulous lunch of mixed Thai and Western cuisine, topped off with some Baskin Robin ice cream which was just a cherry on top. After lunch, we set off to explore the island until we were called back at 4 pm. Then we all went to the island’s waste management system where we saw locals organizing the trash/waste and preparing batches to be sent to MalĂ©. After that, we finally got to swim in the pristine water. It almost had a utopian-like field to it. We then got onto a boat and went to the Goidhoo atoll to observe the mangroves on a paddleboat.
