One year of service is not enough!

This semester we organized a party for the temple school kids. Every year our service organizes two parties for the children and all the service members, to be held at the end of each semester.

The service leaders planned the party and asked the service members to bring treats for the children. On the day of the party we arranged the class and handed al the kids plates and we served them pizza, cake, chips cookies, chocolate and soda.

Then we let them watch an episode of Peppa Pig and gave them a school tshirt to take home.

While the party was going on the service teacher in charge and I planned activities we could do next year as I will be the temple school service leader next year. It is a big challenge but I am sure that all the ups and downs that I will have to go through will only make me a better leader.

Planning this CAS experience has really brought out the creative side of me because this year me and my co leader decided to change things up a bit. We decided to give the children a balanced experience. To do so we planned a sports activity, craft project, educational activity and baking activity for each week of the month. We also thought that all the service members have to be involved in our service activities so we put in charge a service member for each activity and it will be their responsibility to plan what we sport, craft, educational or baking activity we will be doing. The WWW trip to Jaffna really showed me how important little things like coloring with the kids make them happy and that is how we came up with this plan to help the children experience things that they usually wouldn’t.
