Semester 2 Reflection

The end of the year is approaching, and I feel like I have accomplished all the goals that I had set for myself at the beginning of the year. Firstly, I have not only made a game in C++, but I also taught myself how to code in Java. The game took a lot of time and effort to make, but with the help of my friends, I was able to get it done quicker.

In terms of service,  our service group only created the posters for the book drive at our school but also raised 26,000 Lkr to provide the basic resources that are needed for the library at the Vidya Wardeyna school (LO6). It doesn’t sound like a lot of money, but our service formed just last year, so I am quite happy with the efforts of our service. We are almost done with adding books to our online book store and to be honest, it was supposed to take quite some time, but with everyone working together, we were a lot faster (LO5). Even though we have raised funds for the library at the Vidya Wardeyna school, unfortunately, we don’t have the time to work with them for this year, because all the schools in the country were closed for two weeks because of the unfortunate incident that occurred last month.

During the winter break, my friend helped me get an internship at the Nawaloka Hospital, for which I am very grateful. My aim is to do medicine in college, and by working as an intern, not only was I able to get a sense of what skills are required and how a hospital functions, I was also able to meet one of the best doctors in the country, which was an honor.

In terms of creativity, I joined the small bites after school class, because of which I improved my cooking skills, and also learned many more during the process (LO1 & LO2). I also helped the service group by making posters for the book drive, and by planning a layout for the Vidya Wardeyna library.

For activity, I not only joined the football team to develop my skills, but I also made it to SAISA, which was a lot of fun(LO1, LO4 & LO2). During training, I worked on a lot of my previous skills, and I worked collaboratively with my peers and coaches to develop new skills in the process (LO5). I have also joined the Sanath Jayasuriya cricket foundation, to improve and develop new skills. The coaches over are fantastic, and they have worked with me constantly to help me improve.

Overall I feel like I have achieved all the things that I had to do this year, but I am aiming to participate in more CAS activities for the next year.
