On this day, I began my reading buddies CAS Project. The first part of this workshop is to read various types of books to the children in order for them to understand how simple books are created. I wanted to expose them to novels, picture, comic, etc type of books in order for them to grasp each text type. Another way of aiding their comprehension was by making them read and asking questions on the text itself. Eventually my goal is to build the children up to write there own basic text type using the tools which we have thought them through the reading. I want to ensure that the children are slowly guided on how they can accomplish the final goal through constant aid. As part of the first day, I found it to be interesting and a good insight into how I can improve for future lessons on my end, in making sure that the children perceive what the text are about.
On day Reflection:
We went into small groups of 3 and 4 and the kids enjoyed the reading. I found out that some of them began to lose focus during the session so I started to implement them into the reading getting them to read some pages. Another point of feedback for next time is to try and read a book which everyone enjoyed as the children had differant intrest. Asking questions was another good way of keeping them entertained during the readering and it was intresting to find out there hobbies and other random facts.

On this day, me and my friend had our second day of reading with the kids (grade 2). This time we decided to read to the grade as a whole, contrary to what we did in the past (read in groups). We found this to be more helpful as it allowed the children to be more engaged collectively. This proved to be further significant as when we asked questions, it created a conversation within the group, allowing the kids to be more interactive. The book we read was Charlie and The Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.
One goal which we made was to have everyone read at some point, to improve their reading individually, whilst pointing out some interesting literary techniques employed within the work. By doing this, I hope to slowly develop their thinking skills in a literary aspect, to the point in which they can use it for when they write their own works.

One this day, me and my friend had our third reading reading buddies session with the grade 2’s. We decided to keep reading to them as a whole as we found a lot of benefits to it the previous session. We continued to read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and did very similar things to what we did last session, I.E: Asking questions, making them read and excetra. However, something which we did focus on in particular on this session is dive into each of the characters more. We found it hard to do this since they were only in grade 2, however picked out some traits each of them had and talked about it with the children. Our aim is for them to realise how characters are/can be build having certain traits and characteristics. Looking into future sessions, we plan on having another one or two more reading time, where we will look at comic books and picture books to aid their understanding in different types of works. After this, we aim to begin the writing process soon where we will aid them in writing there own simple texts.
