My CAS Goals

To start off the school year, we came up with a few goals that we would like to achieve during our time in the DP program. We re-visited the idea of S.M.A.R.T. Goals, to ensure that the goals we created were clearly established. Due to the current situation with the COVID-19 virus, I tried to make my goals achievable whether we were face to face at school, or if we were participating through the DLP.

MY GOALS:

Creative Goal – By the end of this school year, I want to be able to play “Bella’s Lullaby” on the piano without a single mistake. I will practice for a total of one hour every week (spread out over the week). This is one of my favourite piano pieces, and I attempted to achieve this goal over the summer, but gave up when I found it challenging. I want to give it another try, because I know it will help me improve! This demonstrates me undertaking a challenge to develop my skill of playing piano.

Active Goal – I want to play badminton 1-2 times a week for the whole year (with my coach outside school), so I can make it to the school badminton team in April or whenever the next badminton season is. Each session is an hour, so I will be working on this goal for 1-2 hours every week. This will prove that I am committing to, and persevering in an experience. I will also learn how to identify my strengths and weaknesses, as well as develop areas for growth.

Service Goal – I will work with Ms. Fleming and the other student ambassadors, as well as participate in the SGA and work with the other members to strengthen my collaboration skills while giving back to the community. During my time participating in these groups, I will get many opportunities to plan and initiate CAS experiences. Additionally, in the ambassadors, I will be working to reduce stress and inform people about mental health issues. Mental wellness and awareness is an issue of global significance. This goal will be difficult to achieve in the DLP, but I think that with the help of online platforms like Zoom, I will be able to continue collaborating with these groups.
