Another year of Gecko Gear!
I am so excited to kick start this year off with working hard in service to ensure that my final year in OSC, is focused on bettering myself and the community around me. SAISA volleyball will be hosted in Sri Lanka, AKA the Home of the Geckos. We started off our first service session by talking about our goals for this year, where we then transcended into speaking about what we wanted to make for this volleyball season. I wanted to make sure that the kits that we had planned for this year were some of our best ones yet since I won’t have another opportunity to wear an OSC volleyball kit. Therefore, I made sure to keep an eye on every single design that was being made for the volleyball team. I believe that the kit that we designed for the girl’s team, is the best kit we have ever had for volleyball. It is clean, intimidating, and slightly OSC patriotic (very). I also found out some great news and it was that Gecko Gear had some of the most new members joining us this year, which gives me so much hope for the future of this service. Although it brings me so much joy to create designs for the teams and the OSC community, I remind myself often not to forget the purpose of why we started this service in the first place. Being able to work with the kids on campus and welcome them to OSC every single Thursday, is a rewarding experience as we get to see the smiles on their faces. Knowing that we are helping children who do not have the same privileges and opportunities as us, keeps us humble as a community and helps us to not forget the privileged lives that we live.
