Final CAS Reflection

It seems fitting to do my final CAS reflection a few days before graduation, 2 years’ worth of service, creativity, and activity has created many memories, many moments of learning as well as moments of appreciation for OSC and its wider community.

Creativity and Service

When I became the service leader 5 years ago, the last day of service seemed unfathomable.  However, after countless videos, photos, podcasts, websites, and the general hype that we have created for our work, especially for our SAISA videos, the service has taken a huge leap forward in terms of the quality of production and overall reach.

It was a turbulent journey with many disruptions along the way such as the pandemic as well as transitioning between many service coordinators. However, this year in particular, with the support from Ms. Huang and Mr. Scott, I believe that some of the videos we made were among the greatest videos that the service has made in its lifetime. Furthermore, all of the event coverage we did for SAISA Boys Volleyball and Girls Football in terms of creating websites, taking thousands of photos, making videos, and supporting the tech team with the live streams made this year a successful year for service. We also had the challenging task of finding the next service leader for Gecko Network but after interviews and recognizing the need for more female representation in our service, we made a decision which we hope will take the service to higher levels of production and reach.

I look forward to seeing the work that the service does in the future as the work that Gecko Network does is not only for the students and parents who are in OSC but the Alumni who want to stay in touch with the many events that take place at OSC.

Activity

Over the last 2 years, I was in both the Boys Volleyball team and the Boys Football team. I also continued my golf and going to the gym outside of school. The highlight for me was when we won volleyball at home. Although I was injured after the first game, seeing the whole OSC community come alive for that last point, it was truly a special moment. Unfortunately I got injured many times which limited the amount of time I could play. However, everything is fixed up for the most part and I am excited for the summer where I can get back to going to the gym and playing golf regularly before I go to college where I hope to play for the Men’s Golf Team.

For the future, my goal is to maintain my passions for creating content, playing golf and going to the gym.
