Summer Golf – WIP

Stanford Golf Camp

I went to a golf camp at Stanford where I lived in the Stanford Dorms and trained like a D1 college golfer. There were over coaches from many different schools which was a good opportunity for me to learn about what it takes to be a college athlete.

120th Burdett Trophy

This summer I was also chosen to play for the Colombo golf team against Nuwara Eliya in the 120th Burdett Trophy. I played in this tournament last year and we were able to tie the match but this year I really wanted to win. This match is similar to the Ryder Cup which is played against Europe and America. I played both rounds, the morning doubles and the singles in the evening. After the mourning, we were down 3-1, and to win one team needed to get 6 ½ points and 6 points to retain. I played my singles match against Haroon Aslam a D2 golfer playing in Texas and I was the second last game which meant that there was a lot of pressure on me to close out the match. I was able to fight for a tie and get the half a point we needed to retain the trophy and with the last game being played to the final hole, it was another guaranteed point that allowed us to win this year’s Burdett Trophy with a final score of 7-5.
