GeckoNet’s Success at the Welcome Back Picnic
As GeckoNet continues to grow, so does our need for funding to acquire new equipment that helps future generations explore the world of photography and support the OSC community with timely updates and services. One of our traditions, the annual Welcome Back Picnic, kicked off the new school year and brought our community together for a day of excitement and bonding. This year, GeckoNet had the privilege of hosting a fundraising stand at the event, and it turned out to be a fantastic experience!
After a few brainstorming sessions, our team came up with the idea of a Nerf gun battle. The game featured three targets and offered participants a chance to secure a spot in the top three for the day, with a special Nerf prize awaiting the top competitor. The event was a collaborative effort, with our members taking shifts, managing logistics, and ensuring everything ran smoothly. I supervised and assisted with minor issues while enjoying the day with the younger kids who enthusiastically participated.
The Nerf gun challenge was simple and entertaining, and it drew great support from the community. Thanks to everyone’s participation, we raised nearly 10,400 LKR a strong start for our first event of the year. We hope to host more activities in the future, strengthen our ties with the OSC community, and continue having fun and learning through photography.
