SAISA ART 🎨 B-DESH

From March 20th to March 24th, 2024, I went to Dhaka, Bangladesh, for SAISA Arts at the American International School of Dhaka (AISD). Unlike the usual sports events, this was all about learning and creating art.

Day one was all about getting to know AISD, our ‘ART STUDIO’ for the event. We jumped right into making art and learning how to do it better. I tried Pattachitra painting with Tiger Nazir, a local artist who only spoke Bangla. Even though we couldn’t speak the same language, I learned a lot about his unique style, which focused on Dhaka’s important elements like women, rivers, and tigers.

On day two, we explored Dhaka’s cool stuff. We visited old places like Balabag Fort and an Armenian Church, and we even checked out where they fix rickshaws. I borrowed a Fuji film camera from school and took some cool pictures of the city. Then, we went to Cosmos Gallery to learn about printmaking. It was something I already knew about, but still fun to do.

Day three was all about finishing up our art and getting ready to show it off. I spent a lot of time perfecting my piece, which took a while. Then, in the afternoon, we set up our art for everyone to see. The exhibition was awesome, showing off what we all made. And at the end of the day, we had a big dinner together to celebrate our hard work and new friendships.

My SAISA Arts trip in Dhaka was amazing. It was more than just art – it was about exploring a new place, meeting cool people, and having fun with creativity. In the middle of Dhaka’s busy streets, I found a special place to make art and memories that I’ll never forget.
