First and Last Week Without Walls!!
My first “Week Without Walls” trip was amazing! I was in the Jaffna Northern Narratives group, exploring cool places like Jaffna, Mannar, and Pidurangala. Even though we couldn’t take the train due to repairs, we still had lots of fun. My main goal was to learn more about the country where I live and to capture all the cool moments. During my adventures, I took loads of photos to remember everything. I made a Google Drive folder with almost 200 pictures of all the good times. It’s like a scrapbook but digital, and it’s full of memories I never want to forget. HERE!
On the first day, we woke up early and rode a bus for four hours. After breakfast, we went to Kings Pond, a peaceful spot where we took photos and wrote letters to our parents. We even saw a small snake and a leopard footprint! Later, we visited Point Pedro, where we sent our letters from a famous mailbox. At Keeramalai spring, I accidentally fell in while fully clothed!
Day two started with breakfast and a boat ride to Delft Island. We explored the island and saw a huge tree and a special rock. We missed seeing the wild ponies, but we got to buy cowboy hats from locals. After that, we visited a temple and had ice cream with lots of flavors!
Day three was busy! We visited Jaffna Fort and got caught in the rain. Lunch was spicy Indian food, which I surprisingly liked. Then, we had a long bus ride to Mannar, where we napped and played cards. We stopped at Adam’s and Eve’s grave before ending the day at “The end of Sri Lanka” beach, watching the sunset and seeing buildings in India.
On the fourth day, we woke up early to see flamingos and visited a donkey clinic. I want to sponsor a donkey now! Our hotel was a treehouse, which was cool. We explored Pindurangula rock and saw spiders, lizards, and snakes on our nighttime walk.
Day five was another early start for a hike up Pindurangula rock to watch the sunrise. I took lots of pictures and enjoyed the beautiful view.
I’m happy I got to learn more about the country and make new memories with my friends.
