Victoria’s CAS Journey

My extra-curricular activities at OSC

Surfing Progress

The activity I chose is surfing because it is a sport that I have practiced on and off and want to go back to. I have the advantage that my dad used to be a professional surfer and for the last 10 years has been working as a shaper, (he can be considered my coach for this sport) so for my goals, I want to start learning new tricks and keep myself active throughout this year.

In the last few weeks almost every weekend, we have gone to a different beach to try them out. We have been working on my skills like getting stronger to paddle out to the outside, start catching bigger waves by myself, my duck dive (a surf technique where you can dive under the waves with your surfboard), and catching more clean waves with better drops.

My first highlight was my trip to the Maldives, where I went on my October break, with my family for 7 days. The first 3 days were in perfect condition for me to surf, but the rest of the week it got choppy and I didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy more of the surfing we did some different activities like snorkeling.  My favourite place was a point called Ninjas and there I practiced my duck dives the most, which is a technique were i needed improvement.
