Unlocking more activity time ft. Free block
In the past semester, I have come to a realization that the number of hours of activity I have done overall had been greatly reduced, and nearly not enough. It had been due to my tight study schedule, preparing for medicine along with studying for school, which has led me to cut off my activity hours outside of school. Just as a comparison, I was averaging 2 hours of basketball time daily during the summer breaks. Even before the breaks, I had a decent daily average of 1 hour gameplay. But, on the contrary, this average had now dropped to just over 10 mins of game time daily. Although, I did join cricket in attempt to increase my activity hours, but it hasn’t been apt for my physical activity time. And the adverse effects can already be felt. For instance, the back pain I have experienced over the past month has escalated to a point where now I have to take frequent breaks in between studying, hence also eventually impacting my study output.
To tackle this problem, and to stay on track in terms of my activity, I have now set up a new plan for this term. If I couldn’t allot enough time to activity outside of school, I now plan to fulfil this requirement at school. And my main time spaces would be lunchtime, and the free block we get in every 8 day cycle. Although, HL/SS blocks would always not be available, I could still utilize the ones which are free. The end goal is to eventually increase this activity time to an average of 30 mins daily. There are a few limitations of this plan, specially since not all my free blocks would be used in just activity, but also maybe in school work. But still, it is an attempt to increase my activity hours, specially in the sport of my choice i.e. basketball. Along with that, I have again opted for cricket as my viable activity option as an ASA. This would assist me in maintaining my activity schedule, which I aim to develop overtime, so it benefits me positively, not negatively as it is doing now.
I also aim to do an hour of swimming weekly, so this would also count in as my weekly activity.
To start with, I have already implemented this plan and played basketball with my French homie Antoine, and Top G Thisath. I could feel how much my cardio has deteriorated, and how this plan would actually help me build stamina and also jeep in track other measures of my physique.
