DP 1 Orientation was an adventure, especially for the physics group. We did many experiments about density, flow rates, work and power. The small group of Mr. Leblanc, Mr. Benson, Vinuda, Oliver, Mathew and myself did many cool activities. We traveled by foot about 2km to a large lake to measure the density of the water there and compared it with the pool water at the resort, and to our surprise, there was a difference. Mr. Leblanc genius idea of just using a meter ruler attached to a bottle fulled with marbles to create a buoyant device strong enough to measure the density was brilliant. Other activities we did was measuring flow rates at Aberdeen waterfall. Despite the 1k walk down a very steep jungle, it was worth it to see a sight like this.
We used a pressure sensor to measure different pressure levels in our flow rate device. Our last activity was visiting the hydro dam in Sri Lanka where we learned about the superhero no one knows about. A mastermind who keeps Sri Lanka running, as he is the only one who knows how to truly operate the hydro dam. He made our physics teacher look confused with how he explained the hydro dam. Overall, Physics was a huge win.
