October 7th was a special day for our school as we aim to emphasize the goals of UN within our society. Myself, Ethan, and Shoji decided to teach grade 3 as we taught them about sustainability. we asked them what they knew about sustainability, what makes a sustainable city, if they know any types of sustainable fuel sources which we then introduced one of the sustainable fuel sources used in our school. We took them down to the biogas plant where we showed them how/why it worked and let them get a little hands on activity by allowing them to feed the plant. We then made popcorn for them. Some of them shouted “best they of my life” as they stuffed their faces with popcorn. Overall, we wanted the learning to be as fun as it could be today so they could look back at this moment when they’re in secondary, doing proper work for UN day, really understanding what we discussed and seeing that learning doesn’t always have to be boring.
