Poster on Christmas in France vs. Sri Lanka
Previously in French we had been learning about the unit of Christmas and New Year, despite being a bit late in the calendar, we had explored different traditions in Francophone countries and our own home countries.
Therefore, our French teacher, Ms. Fert, gave us the idea of making a poster which would display and compare the difference in celebrations of Christmas in two countries. For this, I chose a Francophone country (France) and my own home country (Sri Lanka).
As we had already written a paragraph about this in class, I think that it was fairly easy for me to find the information in order to fill in the poster. I used Canva and tried to make the poster as aesthetically pleasing as possible – whilst holding the spirit of Christmas.
It was important that I used as many good vocabulary words in French as I could, as the ultimately, the purpose of this poster was to display what I had learned in this unit and make the best use of it.
Learning objectives:
- LO2 – Challenge and skills
- This unit in French was something that I had not delved into very thoroughly, therefore, it was a bit of a learning curve for me to remember and efficiently utilise the new vocabulary (such as “sapins a Noël” and “achètent”)
- Additionally, there weren’t many resources which would easily provide me with information on Christmas in Sri Lanka – therefore it was challenging to find sources which would provide me with credible information to be used.
- I also think that my graphic designing skills were refined during this CAS activity.
