So, overlooking the goals that I have set out and the goals and achievements I have made over my 2 year period in the CAS system. I think that while I have not achieved all of my goals to my satisfaction. I have still completed a good portion of what I wanted. For example, I learned about my new surroundings and the country that I live in by walking and seeing the local sights. I have helped out others by joining the recycling and sustainability group and I helped run the Dungeons and Dragons club which allowed me and others to have a fun adventure in a fantasy world every week.
Firstly exploring the country around me by walking around and seeing the landscapes. this activity was a bit difficult due to the many problems such as the lockdowns and many of the interesting places becoming inaccessible. Still, though I was able to explore the area I have lived in for the past 2 or so years and found some interesting sites such as a small park where ducks and other waterfowl hang out, cattle hanging out less than a hundred meters from where I live, monkeys along the roofs, and even a monitor lizard that lives in my yard. overall while this goal has not been the most productive I still consider it to be a success.
Secondly helping the recycling and sustainability group was part of my service activity and in it, I explored the numerous ways in which we can reduce, reuse and recycle old materials. From promoting awareness with posters around the neighbourhood and school to setting up collection bins in nearly every classroom to recycle old paper to heading to the recycling center to learn the different materials that could be used and recycled by people. All in all, very productive service to be a part of and I will continue to apply what I have learned from it to myself for the foreseeable future.
Thirdly my CAS project where I helped co-run a Dungeons and Dragons club so that the rest of the people there could enjoy the wonders that are pretending to be a fantasy character. In the group, I helped to host one of the sessions and the players had a blast taking on kobolds, goblins, steam sprits, evil tree sprits and even making a deal with a white dragon. From the short time I was a part of everything, it was a very fun activity. I had to think creatively and I hope to take the experience from managing that activity, and the chaotic mess that is a D&D session to apply it to real life and future games.
Overall like I said while I did not achieve everything I wanted to over the 2 years I think I have done alright especially considering the circumstances of the pandemic making activities, especially group activities very difficult to organise and maintain I thank all of my teachers especially for helping me out along the way. I am also looking forward to the experiences I have moving forward.
