On my last day being with the Service Group of Hope for Kids, the group decided in order to make funds to keep the group running what better way is to create an envent that would bring the community together. What we went with is Cricket match where the School Staff and the teachers come together in the formation of two teams to form the greatest cricket event in the History of OSC. We came up with a plan which was the event was going to start 8.00 am and go on till about 12.pm. The figure below shows the two teams that were being selected to play the game.

Me and the Hope for Kids team arrived to school around 7.35am to set up. We had a total of three stations and close to about 5 to 10 huts displayed around the field so that the teachers would be comfortable

as they watch the cricket match. One of the most important materials we had to have because it was an outdoor event is fixing fans to make the customers have some wind flowing. with food and snacks we decided it was best to serve some drinks that would be highly refreshing andable to be recycled which was a thambili (King Coconut) freshl

y cut from the fruit and served to the guest to enjoy. An important environmental feature we utilised when serving the thambili was the use of paper straws. We also served Ice cream by giving different options to the fellow guest which were Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry.

The cost factor we had for the cricket match was decent. For example we had 500 rupees for a ticket to watch the Cricket match. For the thamibili we had a cost of 200 rupees per coconut and the Ice cream we had

100 rupees per scoop. Overall we would have raised close to 30 thousand rupees, 800 rupees. With this money it would be a smooth sale to plan for the food drive to wrap the year.

For this event I learnt a series of different CAS goals that had been achieved.

LO4 – I showed commitment and enthusiasm towards the process by being in the different stands supporting with the tickets, to helping out with serving  the Ice cream and keeping count of the bills from the number of people that had borrowed or given money to join the cricket match.

LO5 – This is a major standpoint that I had noticed when doing this event simply because with the help of me and my team we were able to make the event a success. So working collaboratively was one main component in order to make the event possible
