Throughout quarantine I began biking a lot with my friends, and finding new routes as we live in an area with lots of interesting scenery such as rubber plantations, lakes and canals. This was also a great way to interact with others away from the screen, whilst being physically active. I often bike with my family, and we discover new routes, whilst stopping on the way for thambili or other snacks.
Recently I did a bike ride (around 36km) on the Kelaniya loop, which takes you past the canal and to the Kelaniya river, where we cross on a foot bridge over the water. We often chose the more adventurous overgrown routes to take, because they were definitely more scenic and shaded, but also more challenging. I also had to navigate some of the crazy traffic, and the countless cows on the road.
Overall biking is one of my favourite forms of exercise, and is really good for both mental and physical well being.
