After school activities have finally started up again, and I am happy to be back playing sports in-person with a team. In addition to volleyball on Mondays, I play football on Tuesdays, run track on Wednesdays, as well as attend my 2 hour dance class on Wednesdays (so Wednesdays are pretty rigorous). I hope to improve my endurance and speed in track, as well as my consistency and skill in volleyball. Working with a team again makes the process really fun, and I look forward to continuing this throughout the semester. We’ve also had a lot of game opportunities, which is great! In volleyball, we just played a game. I am really excited to work with this team and improve my skills because I find the sport really fun, and I think our team has a lot of potential!!
Also, I haven’t played football in a few years, but I recently found that I really enjoy the sport. We played a match against CIS and won 2-0, and I played right wing. It was a really great experience and I hope to improve my skills and accuracy as we continue playing. I realised that I got tired faster during a football match than during track practice, and I think its because football requires shorter bursts of sprints and continuous running : match fitness. This is something I wasn’t super used to, but I hope as I play more I will build up my match fitness and skills. Also I will keep updating, as we have another game against Elizabeth Moir next week.
Track has been fun too. Since we are off-season, it has been more of a low-pressure environment to improve running fitness and work with a team, which I really enjoy. I lead the warm ups / cool down and we have also been practicing relay techniques.
