I truly believe Housing and Habitat is the most active service group ever. Recently, we have really been focused on improving our compost systems around school, especially in the primary area.
A month or two ago, Antoine came up with a design for a bamboo compost bin that would be removable and fixable, by that I mean we could build it anywhere we want as long as we have the bamboo parts.
Creating 1 bamboo compost takes 2 service periods: the first day we would collect the bamboo (from our pre-bought batch from months ago) and cut as the set measurements (we have done them long before) to be ready to assemble in the target area next time. We are a very efficient team and we work very fast, every service period we are very productive and always finish our work on time, so I am proud to say that Housing and Habitat is my service.
Then, the next time, we would have already allocated where we’d place our bin, this time it was in the primary gardens next to their field. We hammered the bamboos into the four corners, and stack the sides, finally tying the coconut rope around the corners and wetting it so it stays secure, and done!
Housing and Habitat is such a productive group, and very physically active, I work out more during our service than anything else.
Overall, I am very happy with the progress we make during our usual service groups and hope we continue to be this productive. This compost bin turned out quite successful and it’s also very durable, along with the fact its eco-friendly.
