Why We’re Doing This

November 2nd 2022. 8:25am. At OSC. The “Running out of Time Baton Relay”. A relay to send a impactful message about climate change to COP 27. Climate change is on its way to coming and we have to do whatever we can to stop. By doing this, we can inform COP 27 that this is something we can’t ignore as over 1 million students worldwide are also joining to do this.

How It Went

First of all, we went out to the field where Eloise (leader of EcoSchools) started off with a speech to have lower carbon footprint, which was inspiring for this because these are everyday ways we can stop climate change of happening.

Then we got paired with the kindergarteners (our fire drill buddies) to partake in this event. I had the same partner I had in a fire drill in September, which was really cool.

The relay finally started as everyone ran with their tiny buddies (featuring Thisath + Antoine and Zach + Sho Ji). We had to have one hand on the baton and run to the opposite side and give it to the next person. When it was our time, we knew we had to be in the kindergartener’s pace, as fast as they can be. Of course, we did amazingly !

We ended off the event by having some people read out the paper messages that were in the batons to prove that we did as a school was super worth it and would really impact our future. Hopefully this message gets to COP 27 to make them realize the issue.
