We finally had our iconic science trips after them being postponed due to the weather. Our trip is located at Sri Pada/Adam’s Peak, but an hour away from the Biology and Physics kids. We stayed at the Moray Estate Blue Magpie Hut, a rustic place.
Badagineeee (Day 1)
We came to school at 6:30am (mind you I, for some reason, woke up at 4am) and off we went ! We all met up for breakfast in Kithulgala and then continued our journey.
We stopped at Ginigathena to get the groceries we needed (bread, eggs, vegetables, and fruits), which was quite chaotic because we couldn’t find the eggs for the longest time.
We then went to Watawala to find the Daffodil Orchid, but unfortunately, we couldn’t find it as it has overgrown.
We then went through hell by going on a bus on the rocky, so me, Isa, Antoine, Mr Lockwood, and Ms Sushma got out to walk our way. It was honestly worth it as we had time to stop and take photos of the beatiful scenery.
We finally made it to the Blue Magpie Hut and went around the area to familiarized ourselves with this place for the 3 days. We ended up feeling very comfortable here as we ate dinner and went to bed.
Chirath’s Borderline 5’10 (Day 2)
I started my day by walking with Mr. Lockwood, Chirath, and Zach. Then we did some explorations of the waterfall area (featuring me finding my new favorite spot to relax). After having breakfast, we set ourselves off on our hike to lunch.
After some time, our favs, the biology kids met up with us and we continued our journey with their company. After some time, we got to our destination and we helped the biology kids with their experiment.
Once that was done, some of us decided to swim in the freezing cold pool (Zach who went in all his clothes {including his shoes}).
After saying our goodbyes to the biology kids, we ate some lunch before going the scenic route to the hut. For our chill time, we explored the waterfall area even further and relaxed and talked for a bit.
As night fell, we had a set-up campfire and vibed there as we ate dinner and had my dad’s tea, which everyone loved.
I Won’t Miss The Cold Showers (Day 3)
After me and Mr Lockwood went on another walk, I went back to my favorite spot to sink in the fact that I’ll never sit here again (well, if I decide not to come back … I miss it though). We had breakfast, our last meal in the Blue Magpie Hut.
You already know that we had to explore the waterfall area just one more time, so me, Mr Lockwood, Antoine, and Isa went to do one last exploration. It was very much needed as I really enjoyed exploring the place.
We drove away and then stopped to eat lunch in Kithugala (the same place we ate breakfast on the first day with everyone). After that, our extended journey back home has continued.
Very Fun
T’was an amazing experience. Even though I hated the cold showers, it was still really fun and very nice to see the nature of Sri Lanka. Everyone in the group made it a great trip as well ! <3
