First Session, Kinda Nervous

Today, Vansh and I had our first reading buddy session with Ms. Ivonne’s preschool class ! We communicated with her by email since there have been Specialist classes going on these days, so it was hard to talk with her in person. She also said that the book can really be anything, but they really like funny stories and book about dinosaurs and counting, so we went to the primary library and looked through some books. The book we ended up picking for today was “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”.

About the Book

“If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” is a book talking in second person, about a boy giving a mouse a cookie, which turns into a series of different actions. Basically like a slippery slope fallacy, where every action causes a reaction. The reason why we chose this book was because we thought it would be very engaging for them. For it to be more interesting, we decided to take turns reading one page.

T’was Nice

Even though we started off slow since they started watching some Alphablocks, we managed to have the session without any other restraints as things went really smoothly. Overall, the kids loved it as after we finished, they applauded us. We asked them some questions about the book and they were shy to answer, but I’m sure they’ll be more comfortable with us as the sessions go on. For me and Vansh at least, it was an enjoyable experience, so I think it’s safe to say that we are all excited for the next session !
