Last Saturday I introduced the game of tennis to my friend Sara. We planned ahead and booked a court at the Queens Tennis Club for about an hour from 9.30am to 10.30am. Tennis was very new to her so I got a coach down to teach her the basics and really get her to know the techniques and skills needed to play a smooth game.

It started a bit rocky with balls flying all over the place but she got the hang of it quite quickly and after about 15 minutes of practicing forehands and backhands, the coach let us play a rally or two to begin things. Even though she was a beginner she played quite well at the start. We made a goal to hit 10 balls without playing them out and after some time we moved on to play 15 balls without getting them out.

We did this for about 30 minutes and the more we played the more we were able to keep up a good rally. Overall, I feel that this experience helped us realize the skill and patience required to play tennis.

Learning outcome 03- Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience.
Helping a friend learn a new sport, booking a court at Queens, and calling a coach down to help teach the basics helped me understand how to initiate and plan this CAS experience.
